2017 International Challenges As Per CFR, UN, And Academic International Affairs Experts

Do you ever find it maddening that our political leaders always identify the current and some of the future problems in our city, county, state, country or the world - and then tell us that they will solve those problems? The big kicker is that most of those problems we have or face were created by people just like them working for the Great Intentions Paving Company LLC. It's also frustrating that our leaders regardless of political affiliation seem to love to practice the definition of insanity - always proposing the same types of solutions which have never worked before. Okay so, let's talk about this real world problem shall we?

There was a very interesting video put out by the Council on Foreign Relations titled; "Things to Worry About in 2017" posted on January 12, 2017 apparently streamed live on that date. It featured the following people on the panel discussion;

1). Richard Atwood, Director of Multilateral Affairs and Head of the New York Office, International Crisis Group.
2). Sarah F. Cliffe, Director, Center on International Cooperation, New York University.
3). Paul B. Stares, General John W. Vessey Senior Fellow for Conflict Prevention and Director of the Center for Preventive Action, Council on Foreign Relations.
4). Panel Presider: Carla Anne Robbins, Adjunct Senior Fellow, Council on Foreign Relations.

One of the questions from the audience was about how the United Nations could do more to help mitigate some of the problems we see on the near horizon. I found the answer scary, as one could very easily argue that the UN is pretty worthless, incompetent and often not supporting the interests of the United States (as per our founding ideals). The United Nation's failure after failures and good money after bad is pathetic.

Additionally, in this video the panelists really take themselves too seriously, they are nobodies, not in charge of anything, and really it occurred to me that any moron that reads the Wall Street Journal International page and understands the basic concepts of various international affairs could have sit up on that panel and sounded just as wise.

Personally, I'd like to see CFR stop identifying problems and come up with some decent solutions. I am so unimpressed I can't tell you. My advice to CFR is simple - if this is the best the CFR can do - kindly save yourselves the embarrassment and go back to academia where all the socialists are.

Why is it when someone comes along and proposes something totally different that the political mechanism works so hard to trash their ideas, always in favor of the way we've always done it in the past - and all the while these experts expect different results? Please consider all this and think on it.
