The Hajr-e-Aswad, which is also identified as the Black Stone, is placed in the eastern corner of the Holy Kaaba in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. It is admired as an Islamic relic. The Tawaf is begun and ended by facing this sacred black stone. Muslims believe that the stone was put there by the Prophet Muhammad. Below you can acknowledge some amazing mysteries of Black Stone which will surely increase your knowledge.

Allah sent the Black Stone to this world from Paradise. It was reported that Ibn 'Abbaas stated: Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said: "The Black Stone descended from Paradise." (Al-Tirmidhi)

The Hajr e Aswad was whiter than milk, but, the sins of the sons of Adam made it black. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) stated: "When the Black Stone descended from Paradise, it was whiter than milk. However, the sins of the sons of Adam made it black." (Al-Tirmidhi)

The stone’s revealed face measures about 20 centimetres (7.9 in) by 16 centimetres (6.3 in). Its real size is unclear and the listed dimensions have changed considerably wit the time, as the stone has been remodelled on several occasions.

When the walls of Kaaba were built, the issue of settling the stone was there and arguments between tribes began. Every tribe wanted to put this stone with his desire. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sorted out this problem and placed it where all tribes were agreed. Holy Prophet (PBUH) with his own hands inserted Hajr e Aswad in the wall of holy Kaaba.

Muslims must kiss Hajar al-Aswad (or just touch or point towards it) during tawaf. Kissing it does not mean they are giving respect to the stone or praying it. They do so only because it is the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The Hajr-e-Aswad was stolen from the Kaaba during 930 CE by the Qarmatian fighters. These fighters robbed Makkah while damaging the Well of ZamZam with bodies of Muslims and took The Black Stone to their base, in the medieval region of Bahrain. The Hajr-e-Aswad was returned in 952 CE according to Historian Al Juwayni and restored to its original location.

The Hajr-e-Aswad was initially a complete one stone however, because of several incidents which occurred time to time divided the stone into eight parts of various sizes. Now they are attached to a large stone which is also encased in a silver frame. The original silver case was made by Abdullah bin Zubair (R.A.) and after that, it was replaced by the latter Khalifas and when there was a need to replace.
