The FOCUS Leaders Need

We often consider, and discuss, some of the many skills, as well as they type of attitude, needed and necessary, to become a quality leader. However, even the best qualified, trained, prepared, and ready, potential leader, will have less than the most desirable results, unless/ until, he begins to proceed, with the type of relevant, sustainable, FOCUS, in order to better understand, what is needed and necessary, and proceeds accordingly! With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly review, examine, and consider, why this is an essential consideration in leading, using the mnemonic approach.

1. Face facts; future; fruition: How can anyone become a meaningful leader unless/ until, he refuses to bury - his - head, in the sand, and looks realistically, at how things have been, presently are, and should be? True leaders face facts, rather than remaining within the restraints and restrictions of their personal comfort zone, and avoid band - aid, short - term approaches, in order to bring the best possible, sustainable solutions, to fruition!

2. Options; opportunities; opinion: There are almost always, several options and alternatives, and the wise leader, evaluates many approaches, in order to take advantage of the best opportunities. He realizes, he must be willing to articulate his opinion, even when it might be somewhat unpopular, if he believes it to be, the best way, and does so, in a motivating, inspiring manner!

3. Comfort zone; care; character; creative: Will you be ready, willing and able, to escape the safety of your personal comfort zone, in order to proceed with the level of care, your constituents seek, and deserve? True leaders possess the quality of character, to be creative, and attempt to make a difference, for the better!

4. Unique; useful; usable: Are you comfortable, not merely following the pack, but, rather, proceeding, in a meaningful, unique way, in order to achieve, the best possible, relevant, useful, courses of action? Measure the quality of one's leadership, by whether one introduces usable ideas, suggestions, and a focused strategic and action plan!

5. System; strengthening; sustainable solutions: Leading must be based on strengthening the group, one serves, and constituents, he represents! This must not be, haphazard, but rather, based on perceiving and conceiving of, creating, developing, and introducing, the best possible, system, to get the best results. However, it's important to realize, and understand, addressing short - term obstacles, is necessary, but meaningful leaders, do so, by developing quality, sustainable solutions!
