We are surrounded by caf's and fast food restaurants that offer us a variety of tasty meals that are prepared really quickly. But with that come the added fats, salts, and sugars to give the meal its overwhelmingly delicious flavours. Burgers are doused with sauces, drinks are saturated with sugar, and chips are overly salted. With such delicious yet bad food options available to us, is it possible to stay healthy in this day and age?
For some it may be a challenge because there are more unhealthy options available than healthy ones. Around every corner there is a burger place or a pizza parlour. Each one offering quick service and a number of fatty food options on their menu. It's not a bad thing to have fast food on occasion such as once a week or fortnightly. It is when you overdo it and eat it daily that has a big impact on your health. After all, your body is not made of processed foods. Your body is a natural being that requires natural fuel to survive and thrive. That means it requires fruit, vegetables, proteins and minerals as fuel. Processed foods tend to work against your body. It also makes your digestive system work harder to break down the processed ingredients.
Processed food costs remarkably less than healthier food which is, not surprising, why many people choose fast food. You get more meal for your buck and for people who live on a tight budget this might be the only type of food that they can afford. It is ironic because you would think that the natural option would cost less and the processed option, which is man-made, would cost more. However, the opposite is true and this results in an unhealthier nation because it is price that is considered over health.
There are ways to stay healthy and save money, but that means you might need to do it yourself. For example, you could invest in catering equipment that makes healthy options. You could get your own juice extractor and make 100% fruit juice in your own home. Or you could look for a blender that can blend fruit to make delicious smoothies. You could make a batch of smoothies and freeze it. Each day you can take one cup out of the fridge and take it with you to work. It is a great alternative to the sugary gas drinks plus it is filled with vitamins.
If you take the time and thought, you can live healthily in this day and age.
