Clothes Accuracy in Visual to Visual Adaptations

There have been many video games that have been adapted to movies. With these adaptations, there would usually be a main character that has a costume based on someone from the video game itself. Whether these are the same character, a familiar face, or someone completely unrelated, how the person being focused on matters to the movie adaptation's reception. Some notable adaptations that I would want to look at is Hitman and Assassin's Creed.

In Hitman, the star of the show is a hitman known as Agent 47. 47 has showed up in nine games: Hitman Codename 47, Hitman Silent Assassin, Hitman Contracts, Hitman Blood Money, Hitman Trilogy which is a re-release of the previous three, Hitman Absolution, Hitman Go which is a mobile game imagining, Hitman Sniper, and a 2016 reboot just titled 'Hitman'. 47 happens to have two films under his belt which gives some more to compare to.

Both of the Hitman films feature Agent 47 and costume-wise, it is hard to mess up. Things to look for are a bald head, a bar code tattoo on the back of head, a black suit with a red tie and white shirt, and possibly two silver pistols. Timothy Olyphant from the 2007 film displays all of these. Rupert Friend from the 2015 film also shows all of these. Easy costume equals easy costume accuracy.

In Assassin's Creed, the main star tends to change between a few games. The games and their respective main characters I will be looking at are: Assassin's Creed's Altair, Assassin's Creed 2's Ezio Auditore, and Assassin's Creed 3's Connor Keyway. The protagonists, while different people from different times, do share a few qualities because of the group they belong to. These attributes are white robes with a big hood enough to obscure face, long sleeves, flowy leg length cloth that are not part of the costume's pants, and a retractable arm blade on the left arm. There has only been one film in the series, but many games, so a few comparisons can still be made.

Michael Fassbender plays the titular assassin in the movie adaptation for Assassin's Creed. Fassbender's costume contains black robes with a big hood, dual arm blades, flowing leg length cloth, and long sleeves. Of these major costume choices, the differences are in the color of the robe and the extra arm blade. The arm blade difference though can be ignored because Ezio contains dual blades in most of his promotional art. Costume accuracy is mostly covered except for not wearing traditional white. Adaptation is accepted.

"Hope Runs" Book Review

Claire and her friend Lara had dreams of traveling the world after college. They headed to Africa to participate in a running event. Along the way, they found an orphanage that allowed people to stay in their guest room. Once there, they became fond of a boy named Samuel.

The girls stayed a year which was a big deal because the children were used to visitors passing through to take photos and then leaving. While there, the girls started a running club with hopes of training them to participate in races where they could have exposure and opportunity. They did shoe and clothing drives and contacted people through social media to get involved.

At a friend's wedding reception dinner in 2009, Lara was seated next to the financial aid director of a high school in Maine. She got Claire's attention and said this was someone she should meet. Claire was able to become the legal guardian of Samuel so he could begin attending during his sophomore year. He received a full scholarship.

Samuel spent a year in Ecuador with a service organization after high school. At first, he didn't like the mother of the host family he was staying with because he thought she was mean. After speaking with the mother, Claire and Lara helped Samuel get a new perspective. They explained that she was just a mom doing the best with what she had and he could be of service to her by offering to help instead of waiting to be asked.

That shift helped him mature into an adult. As he changed, the host mother softened as well.

The book ends with Samuel returning home to Africa in 2014. His hopes were to attend college and reconnect with biological family members. The journey of Claire and Lara brought the world to him. He had so many good people helping him along the way. The experiences he gained developed him into someone who has so much to offer back to the world.

This was a heart-warming memoir. Stories become dear to us when we meet others who come into our lives. My daughter-in-law is from Sudan. I mentored a young man from Sudan when my children were in middle school. Today, he is a dear friend with a family of his own and has come a long way. I'm sure God knew that one day my son would marry a girl from Sudan.

Stories don't with the closing of a book. That is when they are just beginning.

Final Novel in Bullies and Allies Series Puts All the Pieces Together

In The Puzzled, James F. Johnson brings all the pieces together from his first two books to reveal some shocking secrets about Kyle Rickett's past. This third and final book in the Bullies and Allies series follows Disaster Island and The Goat Driver. In Disaster Island, readers were introduced to thirteen-year-old Kyle's dysfunctional family, as well as the pediatrician, Dr. Krieg, whom Kyle has vague memories of having molested him as a child. Unfortunately, Dr. Krieg is Kyle's father's only friend, and now that Kyle is older, that doesn't deter Krieg's behavior. Kyle is surrounded by bullies at school and at home, while simply trying to survive. When things reach a crisis point, his family, not knowing how to deal with him, sends him for the summer to his Grandpa Louie in Minnesota. In The Goat Driver, Kyle arrives in Minnesota. During the summer, he makes a new friend, a young man named Tuck, who teaches him the true meaning of friendship and how to stick up for himself when he returns home.

When The Puzzled opens, Kyle has just returned home to Torano Island in Washington. He is more self-confident than before, and with Tuck's secret support, Kyle is able to face several, but not all, of his bullies. His sociopathic sister Fran still continues to stir up trouble in the family, driving a wedge between Kyle and his parents. Kyle is continually afraid of what she will say; she is always willing to expose family secrets as well as tell lies or just guess until she hits upon the truths of situations.

Outside his immediate family, Kyle has other issues to deal with. He remains an outcast at school, although he learns how to cope with the situation better. When Dr. Krieg is accused by an anonymous caller of molesting children and leaves his practice, Kyle is deadly afraid that whoever knows about Krieg's activities also knows he was one of Krieg's victims, and when that knowledge is exposed to the public, it will ruin his life.

Fortunately, Kyle has found his allies. He maintains a secret correspondence with Tuck, who, despite being far away in California, continually supports him and even lets him know that if it ever becomes necessary, he will come to Torano Island to rescue him. Closer to home is Kyle's neighbor and best friend, Connor. Kyle has kept secrets from Connor all these years, afraid if Connor knew how he was treated in Catholic school, he wouldn't be his friend either. But when Connor and Kyle begin high school together, they are able to bond even more and Kyle is able to leave the bullies from his Catholic school past behind him. Eventually, Connor and Kyle begin their own radio show, which becomes a hit on Torano Island. Soon, Kyle finds that he is popular and well-liked. The radio show and his friendship with Connor allow him to see possibilities for his future.

But the future still requires coping with the past. Although as yet undiagnosed, Kyle is suffering from PTSD from his abusive childhood, which causes him at times to revert to dangerous behavior-both suicidal and sexual. He soon realizes that his biggest enemy may be himself.

The Puzzled comes to a very satisfying conclusion. James F. Johnson does an excellent job of bringing together all the issues Kyle has faced in the past and showing how he works through them. This book-and, indeed, the entire series-is more than just an entertaining novel. It will raise awareness of family dysfunction, PTSD, sociopaths, child abuse, and many other issues that cause people to find life difficult to deal with. The Puzzled, in particular, is largely about healing from the past. Johnson offers a very concise look at bullying, and while he agrees it is important to stand up to bullies, he also shows there are some situations in which you simply can't stand up to bullies so the best thing to do is to walk away. This lesson is the hardest one in the book for Kyle to accept because it means ending some relationships he would have liked to maintain, but the only way to ensure his sanity and safety is to cut the ties that should otherwise bind.

I remain impressed with Johnson's ability to develop his characters so completely. These characters feel like real people, like people I have known, cried with, and cheered for as they have experienced life's ups and downs. If I have any complaint, it's that the story is now over. Even though The Puzzled is much longer than the two previous books, I am left wondering about many things, not because Johnson doesn't resolve everything, but because I want more-I want to know what Jayne, Kyle's niece, grows up to be like after being raised by a sociopathic mom. I want to know more about Kyle's cousin Scooter, who fakes his death after his family condemns him for being gay. I just don't want to leave these people. I guess I'm hoping for some sort of a spin-off series someday.

Overall, I can't recommend the Bullies and Allies series enough. Anyone who has experienced a dysfunctional past-and at least to some degree, we all have-will find much in these pages to relate to, and more importantly, learn from.

If someone wants to be in a relationship, there can be a number of things that they will be looking for in a partner. Firstly, there can be the need to be with someone who has a certain appearance and, secondly, there can be the requirements that they have when it comes to their personality.

The Glue

But while someone's appearance is going to be important to them, one might realise that it is what someone is like as a person that will make all the difference. Sooner or later, they will get used to their looks and they will be left with their personality.

So, if they were to ignore someone's personality and only focused on their looks, they could soon be in for an unpleasant surprise. If they are, it is likely to be a number of months before they come crashing down though, due to all the positive feelings that are running through them.

One Trait

One thing that someone like this could value is loyalty, with this being right at the top of their list. They could say that they want to be with someone who is going to stick around no matter what and who won't cheat on them.

And the reason why one is so clear about this could be due to the fact that they have been with people in the past who were not loyal. Their past experiences have then made them realise how important this is.

The Foundation

It could be said that in order for there to be trust in a relationship, there needs to be loyalty. For example, if one is with someone who isn't there when they need them or has been with other people, it is not going to be possible for one to trust them.

Their relationship is not going to be built on anything solid. The other person is not going to be invested in the relationship, and it might only be a matter of time before it comes to an end.

One Step Back

And even if one was in a relationship with someone, there are going to be moments when their partner can't be there for them. That's not to say that whoever they end up with will cheat on them, though.

Along with this, there is no guarantee that the person they end up with will stay with them until their end of their life. This is something that one can believe if they were to get married, but this doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

Two People

When one is friends with someone or is in an intimate relationship with them, it is not just about their needs. There are the needs that one has and then there are the needs that the other person has.

If, on the other hand, the other person was just an extension of them, there would only be one set of needs. As a result of this, there would be absolutely no reason whosoever for the other person to ever leave their life.

Two Sides

But if one was to step back, they are likely to realise that it is not possible for them to be unconditionally loyal either. For example, if they are with someone who ends up being abusive, it is going to be in their best interest to walk away.

Yet, even if they don't end up with someone who is abusive, they could get to a point where saying with someone is holding them back. It is then not that one is being disloyal; it is that they are paying attention to their own needs.

A Closer Look

If one expects the people in their life to always be there for them, it can show that they are looking for these people to fulfil their unmet childhood needs. One is then not seeing these people as individuals; they are seeing them as their caregivers.

Their younger years may have been a time when their needs were rarely, if ever met, thereby setting them up to experience a lot of neglect. Thus, as their caregivers weren't there when they needed them to be, they expect other people to give them what their caregivers couldn't give them.

Avoidance

The alternative would be for one to no longer expect other people to give them what their caregivers couldn't and to work through the pain that is within them. But while this would allow them to gradually let go of the need for other people to be unconditionally loyal, it would cause them to experience a lot of pain.

And, if one has been this way for as long as they can remember, they are unlikely to even realise what is taking place. One is then not going to be able to simply become aware of what is going on and to change their life.

Awareness

This is something that is likely to take time, and one might need to reach out for external support. Through working with a therapist or a healer, one will be able to go where they probably wouldn't go by themselves.

Thinking About Dionysus the Greek God of Wine and His Relevence

Ever since I read the book by Dr. Ved Prakash about the ancient Hindu books like the Vedas and their Hebrew connection, Greek and Roman Mythology along with Hebrew tales have interested me greatly. Greek mythology is perhaps the oldest of the western philosophy and one god who commands great attention is the Dionysus, the god of wine.Dionysus was worshiped somewhere between 1100-1500 BC by the Greeks. He was a creation of mythology and in those days any event which was propitious or trend making was assigned a god. With the discovery of the effects of grapes and their fermentation into wine, the god Dionysus emerged. Nobody can tell how a myth is created, but sometimes there is an element of truth in such cases. Dionysus the god of wine soon was worshiped and an entire set of rituals came into existence, some of which survive to this day.

One of the rituals involved couples en masse getting together and singing and dancing while drinking wine made from grapes. It was a great occasion for merriment and it was not uncommon for men and women to pair up and head for the woods, as the wine broke all inhibitions. It was a greatly looked forward event and many visitors from Persia and Egypt wanted to witness these festivals in the hope that they also would be allowed to participate.

The Romans later on also began to worship a derivative of Dionysus in the form of a god of wine who they called Bacchus. The festival was similar, but as per Roman historians, the festival normally ended in an orgy.

The myth regarding Dionysus makes interesting reading. As per the myth, the king of Gods Zeus was loved by a mortal woman named Semele, who was extremely beautiful and fair. Zeus loved her immensely, but he always met her in darkness as no mortal is supposed to see a god. Semele, however, insisted that she wanted to see her lover and Zeus was forced to oblige. After mating with her, Zeus one night revealed himself to her. The sight of Zeus naked as a god dazzled Semele and she died. Zeus was heartbroken and as Semele was with child he plucked her fetus and nurtured it, till the god Dionysus was born. He was thus the son of Zeus.

The myth has come down from that age, but the actions of the Greeks after consuming wine is about similar in the modern age. Alcohol and wine do dull the senses and throw inhibitions to the winds.

Relationships: Can A Man's Unmet Childhood Needs Make Him Want To Sleep With A Lot Of Women?

There are some men who generally have relationships, while there are others who have absolutely no interest in having one. But even if a man doesn't want to have a relationship, it doesn't mean that he has always been this way.

No Longer the Same

If there was a point in their life when they did have relationships, or were in a relationship, they may have had a different outlook. Perhaps this was a time in their life when this was just something that took place, as opposed to something they consciously decided to do.

And now, for one reason or another, this is no longer something that appeals to them. Yet, if one has never had the desire to be in a relationship, it won't be as if there was a point in their life when everything changed.

Two Options

So, if a man doesn't want to be in a relationship, it would be easy to assume that this means he just wants to 'sleep around'. This might be something that a man wants to do, but then again, it might not be.

The man might just want to spend time in his own company and to work on other areas of his life. It is then not that he has 'gone his own way', it is just that this is not a time in his life when he wants to share his life with a woman.

The Odd Occasion

At the same time, there may be times in his life when he does spend time with a woman. He may find that he enjoys a woman's company at certain times in his life, but wouldn't want this to be a regular occurrence.

It could then be said that his main priority is his own purpose and he might even have children from another relationship that he enjoys spending time with. And who knows, perhaps he will end up in a relationship in the future.

A Common Outcome

If man does want to sleep with a lot of women and ends up making this a reality, he is likely to receive a fair amount of positive feedback from others. There are bound to be a number of people who will see him as the 'alpha man'.

It is unlikely that everyone will have this outlook, though, as there likely to be moments when he will be criticised for being this way. There can be a number of reasons as to why someone would do this.

A Closer Look

If he was judged by a woman for doing this, it could be a sign that they end up falling for a man who they had sex with but the man didn't want to take things further. On the other hand, if a man was to judge them, it could show that he secretly wants to behave in the same way but doesn't feel comfortable doing so.

There are going to be others who say that as long as this man is not hurting anyone, there is nothing wrong with what he is doing. Along with this, they could point out there are a number of women who are the same.

Two Parts

When a man behaves in this way, there is likely to be what is going on at a surface level, and then there can be what is taking place at a deeper level. The first level might be the only level that the man is in touch with.

At this level, it could relate to the man's desire to have sex and to experience pleasure; he might even believe that having sex with lots of women is what a man should do. By not having a relationship and just having sex, it can be as though he is getting the best bit.

Perception

Through being this way, he may view certain women as objects of pleasure; things that he can use to feel better about himself. This can then stop him from being able to see that these women are just people, people with their own needs and feelings, amongst other things.

Having an endless flow of women to have sex with could be seen as being something that will allow him to life a fulfilling life. He might also say that he has a 'strong sex drive', with this being one of the things that drive his behaviour.

The Second Level

However, if a man was to get in touch with what is taking place in his body, he may find that there is another reason why he has the desire to behave in this way. It might then become clear that this is not really about having sex; it is more about fulfilling his unmet childhood needs, and avoiding the kind of situations that caused them to suffer as a child.

Their early years may have been a time when they didn't get the love that they needed form their mother, whilst also being smothered by her. As a result of this, part of them will want to be with a women and part of them won't want to get too close to them.

Two Needs

Simply having sex with a woman will allow them to receive attention from a woman, but what it won't do is cause them to feel smothered. The man can then have best of both worlds, so to speak.

If this is the case, it could be said that behind the exterior that they have created to attract women is a wounded boy. And if a man had a mother who was distant on one hand and smothering on the other, there is also the chance that their father wasn't around or that he was emotionally unavailable.

Developmentally Stunted

This would have stopped him from being able to develop boundaries. He would have come to believe that if he got close to someone, it would cause him to be smothered by them and to be completely annihilated, thereby causing him to fear intimacy.

If his father was available, there would have been no need for his mother to get this close him. Not only this, he would have been on hand to stop this from taking place, which would have allowed him to develop in the right way.

Two Other Reasons

His father wouldn't have been around to affirm his worth and this can then be why his sense of value as man can be defined by how many women he sleeps with. Doing this can also be a way for him to receive positive feedback from men, the kind that he desperately needed from his father as a child.

Deep down the man may blame his mother for the fact that his father wasn't around, instead directing this anger at his father for not being there. The control that he experiences through sleeping with a woman and then leaving them can compensate for how powerless he felt as a child, with this being a way for him to experience indirect revenge.

Emotionally Disconnected

If he blamed his father for leaving and not his mother, there is the chance that he would come across as more feminine and have the tendency to blame men for everything. The man who sleeps around is then in conflict with his feminine aspect; whereas the other type of man is in conflict with his masculine aspect. Having said that, if someone experienced trauma as a child, they are likely to have issues with both sides of their nature.

Due to the pain that former experienced when they were growing up, it would have caused them to disconnect from their emotions. They could be carry a lot of pain in their body, and this can be why they are unable to see women as people.

Projection

When they were growing up, they wouldn't have received the love, care and support that they needed. And as they were unable to develop these parts of themselves, they end up projecting these parts onto certain women; it then won't have matter if a woman has actually integrated these aspects within herself.

The strong urge that they have to have sex with a woman is then a result of the fact that they remind them of that which they haven't integrated within themselves. One is then trying to consume something externally in order to try to make up for what they feel they lack internally.

Awareness

After a man has behaved in this way for a little while, he can come to see how much time he has wasted. How the energy that he used to attract women could have been used to create something significant.

He may also get to a point where sleeping with women is no longer giving him the same rush, and this can cause him to take a step back and to reflect. If a man can relate to this, and they want to change their life, it might be a good idea for them to work with a therapist or a healer.

Projection: Is There A Reason Why We Project Our Issues Onto Others?

If one was to look back on their life, they may become aware of a time when they saw their own issue in someone else. This could have been a time when they accused someone of having anger problems, when they themselves were the ones who had anger problems.

Or, perhaps they accused their partner of acting in a selfish manner, when it was the person who they saw in the mirror who was acting in this way. At the time, it wouldn't have been possible for them to see what was going on, but that would have changed as time passed.

The Most Important Thing

Nonetheless, even though this or something similar took place, the main thing is that one came to see what was going on. Consequently, one would have been able to do something about what was going on within them and to grow from the experience.

The alternative would have been for one to be oblivious to what was going on and to do the same thing all over again. Another way of looking at this would be to say that one shouldn't have projected their issues onto another person to begin with.

A Completely Different Outlook

If one has this outlook, they are likely to believe that someone shouldn't project their issues onto others. Instead, what they should do it take responsibility for what is taking place within them.

In their eyes, this is likely to be something that takes place when someone is not aware of what is taking place within them. And as they have this outlook, it should mean that they won't ever project their issues onto others.

Back To Reality

However, as one is a human being, it means that there are going to be moments when they project their issues onto others. If they have done a certain amount of healing work and have a good level of self-awareness, this might not happen very often, but it is still likely to happen.

So, if one was to say that this is something that they don't do, there is the chance that they are in denial. It is then going to vital for them to realise that there is nothing wrong with seeing their issues in others.

The Mirror

One way of looking at this would be to say that when one projects their issues onto others, it allows them to see what is going on within them. This is then another way for them to become aware of what they need to deal with.

With this in mind, one doesn't need to criticise themselves for seeing what belongs to them in someone else. If anything, this should be a time when they should congratulate themselves for noticing what has taken place.

An Important Ability

If one wants to increase their self-awareness and to work through their stuff, they are going to need to be able to pay attention to what they judge in others. This will tell them a lot about the parts of themselves that they need to pay attention to.

There is then going to be no need for one to believe that they shouldn't project their issues onto others. They will be able to see that they need to pay attention to what they see in others.

The Nature of the Mind

What this comes down to is that when one doesn't want to face something, they can end up disconnecting from it. When this happens, one is not going to be able to directly face what they have lost touch with.

At one point in time they will have been aware of what this was and at other, they will be completely unaware of it. It probably would have been too painful for them to face it, which is why they had to push it out of their awareness.

A Helping Hand

Thus, if one didn't project their issues onto others, it would be a lot harder for them to see what they have disconnected from. It would be like taking a car that doesn't work to the garage and being told that they can't find anything wrong with it.

Until something is found, it is not going to be possible for the car to be fixed. In the same way, it is only by one becoming aware of what is going on around them that they will be able to see what is going on within them and to change their life in the process.

Awareness

Lessons Learned

I recently lost a few pounds and decided that because of this, it was a good time to go through my closet. One of the surprises I experienced was to find a lovely pair of black pants that I had forgotten about. So, I washed them and was happy to find that they weren't too tight in the waist. Last Wednesday I was invited out for lunch and decided to wear them.

Everything was fine until after the meal when I started walking towards my car in downtown Medicine Hat. My pants felt strange and I didn't realize what was happening until they were at my knees!

When I looked up I noticed that there were people coming towards me but they were still about a block away so I thought I could make it to my car without them noticing. I had a fairly heavy purse in my left hand so I quickly reached down with the right hand and yanked the waistline upwards. When I arrived at the car, however, I still had my purse in the left hand and had to use my right hand to put the key in the door. My pants dropped mid-way between my knees and ankles!

Now many people would likely have been horrified in a similar situation but I just got the giggles! As soon as I got home I sent a text message to all my children and grandchildren telling what had happened. For three hours they made comments back and forth and we all had good laughs.

Well, there are many lessons to be learned from an experience like this:
1. We all have blessings that we might miss if we don't pay attention. You probably own clothing, books, or other treasures that you have forgotten about. Look around and be blessed.
2. Don't make assumptions. Just because you think that something fits or works doesn't mean that it will be practical or serve its purpose well. I should have spent more time ensuring that the waistline was beyond being comfortable - it was too loose!
3. Life gives us opportunities to choose our emotions. We choose to feel happy, sad, guilty, or embarrassed. In this case, I chose to laugh.
4. Family members are never too busy to have fun. Often we ask the same questions and have difficult starting or maintaining a conversation with younger generations. Tell them a funny story or get into their world of interests and they have lots of time to participate!
5. Relationships are often strengthened by sharing trivial adventures. We have all had crazy things happen but don't share them because we feel vulnerable. It's okay. Vulnerability opens channels for good communication. I am not afraid of publishing this story because I know that every reader has had something similar happen to them and will relate.
6. Most difficulties can be resolved. When I got home, I just put a new elastic in the waistband!
7. There is always a "next time". I will be more diligent in the future and make sure that there is less risk of another "incident".

Why Fun Learning Makes Happy Families

I am a retired HS physics and science teacher and I am also the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren. My husband and I love to take our grandchildren on trips and this year we took 6 of the younger children (5-8 yrs) on a trip to San Antonio. Since my husband and I are both teachers, we like to include something fun, but educational on our trip.

It was a particularly hot and humid day, so we chose to take the kids to the new DoSeum that had just opened. The DoSeum is a huge, 5.5 acre magical facility full of everything science and much, much more all for a reasonable price with season ticket options available. If you've never been, I highly recommend it!

The minute we walked through the doors, I was ecstatic to see all of the cool "sciencey" learning toys and exhibits everywhere! I was even more ecstatic to see the happy families playing with those cool learning toys!

The first area we entered was the section marked "Spy Academy." This section allows the kids to "play detective" and solve clues to find secret rooms, tunnels and hidden drawers in the walls, staircase, and fireplace. My grandchildren stayed in that room for over an hour looking for clues. There are costumes available for several of the exhibits, so my little sleuths decided to wear trench coats and fedoras!

Spy Academy included a finger-printing station, a police photo station, plus secret codes that they had to decipher. They were so engaged by the activities in the Spy Academy section, I was not sure we would even see the rest of the museum that day! What fascinated me about this room was that it was so quiet! Most of the kids (and their parents) were thinking about their next clue. There was no talk. They were in the hunt searching for that solution to the mystery and their faces all showed complete determination to get the job done. It was awesome to see their problem-solving skills in action!

There is something about learning and play. Research tells us that children learn the best by playing and using their imagination to solve problems. I know that. I'm a teacher. I've read the research. But as I watched the many parents and children in that museum that day learn the same concepts I taught in my physics class, I thought to myself, I am looking at the way families have probably connected for thousands of years. Parents and grandparents taught survival skills or traditions that ensured family success. Playing is learning, and learning makes people happy and connects families! Kids and parents were both engaged in using their brains, solving problems and building memories. Everyone was smiling! It reminded me of my youth learning how to garden with my grandmother and how to sew with my mom- both lifetime skills and happy memories that will stay with me forever!

Nowadays, life is so hectic, and young parents or grandparents spend much of their would-be quality time commuting or working. I thought about how hard it is to incorporate fun learning into the day at home. This day at the museum with our grandchildren was a special time. It made me grateful for having grown up in "slower" times and it made me grateful for being able to share in the learning experience with my grandchildren. I give the day an A++!

Learning together is fun! When I retired I decided that I would offer quality educational and learning toys in my store! If Content Is the King, Where Is King's Honor?

Importance of content is accepted by everyone be they are businesses or politicians. In the olden days, civilizations were cultivated, promoted, and sustained with content. One religion says through word everything is created. Thanks to product innovation, new product development, market creation, and change management, content is raising its head above all other streams. Now the question is whether content gets its due recognition as the happenings in the corporate tell otherwise.

One person working in IT company as content specialist told me how the digital marketing team despises the content writers. He finds a conspiracy in putting down the content writers. But interestingly the team heads claim that content is everything. The plot runs like this. The digital marketing manager and the team lead are unable to get results and their pay is higher over the content writer. So, in order to survive they simply give poor reports of content writers as a result, content writers keep on leaving due to the work pressure the digital marketing heads constantly exert. And they simply communicate to the business head that marketing doesn't work as the content is 'not good'. They also ensure that good content writer are not allowed to survive as they see as a threat to their continuation of the company. As the digital marketing heads were in the company for many years, the management takes their feedback as gospel truth. So, in short, the blame is on content.

Let us go deeper. The digital marketing heads are traditional ones with no new ideas for innovative marketing. This requires creativity and content writers are the ones who come with creativity thanks to their reading habits and the environment that shaped them to be writers. In the case of digital marketing heads, they follow a few traditional strategies which have neither rhyme nor reason. In this case, identifying new audience is important; identifying flaws in existing marketing strategy is another key area, researching on how the competitors work etc., all require keen sense of understanding as well as thinking to rework on strategies. Other than content writers, who else can do this better? If the content specialist is empowered with the task of digital marketing and developing apt content, things would have worked otherwise, results would have been achieved or breakthroughs could have been accomplished.

Hearing the sad plight of the content specialist I said, these digital marketing can be learned by any layman in one month time. But writing specialized content cannot be done by anyone so easily. If the digital marketing needs to be successful, better the management put content specialist as its head and not the digital marketing manager as its head. Or, make content specialist as digital marketing manager as that job can be learned in one month time.

Management guru Philip Kotler has said that the difficulty in procuring the product makes the price of a product. Getting a software developer is easy as there as thousands being churned out by institutes, so is the case of digital marketing executives as the trade can be taught in 20 classes. These are the people who command the content specialists by saying 'we want content'. How will the content writer not be demotivated?

As the knowledge society is constantly evolving and making yesterday's technology outdated, content plays a crucial role in marketing management right from product conceiving to selling. The bottom line here is businesses need to realize content is an important arm and should recognize content specialists are the ones with a lot of knowledge both in product development as well as in marketing. Today knowledge is everything. The best way for businesses to remain competitive is to identify intellectual content writers and pay them well and make them involved in the decision-making process. As the content writer do a lot of search about various aspects pertaining to the product, it is vital that talented content writers should be paid on par with other senior executives as they have ideas for growth.

The question of talented content writer vs. writing clerks also arises here. Today, HR managers are no longer equipped to identify the intellectual depth of a talented content writer. They see content as an ordinary task that requires fewer skills. In a knowledge society, knowledge is passed through content and through communications new methodologies come in for capturing the largest market share. In such a scenario, a talented content writer should be involved in top-level meetings to elicit his ideas for reaching different communities. They are the ones who are involved in speech writing or making annual reports for CEOs. Because of these stronger reasons, content specialists need to be treated on par with the top managers or more than production staff.

Businesses need to realize that it was the writers who were behind big leaders and made their success. It was also the writers who made many mighty ones to fall as a result of their writing. Governments reel under the impact of negative writing. The opposition gets elevated at this point. This means making and falling are in the hands of talented writers. So elevate the writers to make and fall into due recognition.

On the other hand, a talented content writer needs to think in terms of an Idea Head as through his ideas marketing happens. But the credit goes to some other C Level executive. Therefore, it is high time for the content specialists to assert for your right due.

Having said this, businesses and other top executives should shed its contempt on content. Content is the king and king deserve its honor. Imagine a scenario if the king is not respected by his subjects, there will be total collapse or chaos. Organizations live in such a state of affairs where disrespected content team don't want to give their full potential as they are not getting their due in terms of remuneration or position. A talented content writer should be treated as Ideator with due respect. This is the best way for businesses to emerge successful in stiff competition or downturns. Over to businesses to take action on this issue.
