The Cause of Mass Shootings

The Cause of Mass Shootings

By Jon C. Paul

Again... and again... and again.

Mass shootings - broadly defined as four or more persons killed or injured in a common or closely-related shooting incident, not including the shooter - have become commonplace in American society. And they happen everywhere: schools, churches, medical facilities, restaurants and other social and entertainment venues - in other words, they occur everywhere. There is no longer any such place as a safe haven. More than half of mass shootings have some connection to domestic or family violence. More than a third of mass shootings involved a shooter who was prohibited from possessing firearms. And in almost half the cases, the shooter exhibited something noticed in retrospect - words or behaviors - that should have indicated that he was a danger to himself or others.

There are those who always do and will lay the blame on the guns, because that is most often the tool used. But, at the expense of being chastised and ridiculed, I submit that the guns are not the problem. Guns in and of and by themselves do nothing - they do not discharge, they do not aim, they do not kill; they do NOTHING. But put that same inanimate object in the hands of a person intent on doing evil and heinous things and the situation becomes different. So which is the cause of the bad deed - the inanimate object, or the person utilizing the inanimate object?

As always, the aftermath of a horrific incident immediately brings out those who call for more gun control. But do you ever notice that those same people never have any other reasonable solution to the problem? Those people never have suggestions related to mental health, or the socio-economic problems that created the shooter, or more effective law enforcement response and intervention, or anything other than "... control the guns and make more gun laws... " When was the last time you heard the question "Where were that guy's parents when he walked out of the house with the gun?" or "Why didn't that guy's parents know what he was posting on social media?" or "What happened in that guy's life that caused him to be so angry and violent?"

Or even better, why do we wait until after the horrific incident to think about these things??

If as noted above about half the persons involved in mass shootings were found to have exhibited words or behaviors that should have indicated that they were a danger to themselves or others, why didn't someone notice or report beforehand?

Do I have the specific answers to the problem of mass shootings? I DO NOT. But I do know that there is no empirical evidence to show that taking away guns or making more gun laws will in itself solve the problem. And I do know that people who are raised and nurtured in an environment that fosters respect and love and sound societal morals and values will significantly reduce the number of the kinds of people who become angry enough and disillusioned enough to go out and start shooting other people.

Here's another question to ponder after yet another mass shooting:

Has the number of mass shootings increased because there are more guns, or has the number increased because we for some reason have more unstable people who want to become mass killers? And are there fewer mass shootings in other countries because there are fewer guns, or because the people in those countries are healthier and more stable and more resources are spent to assure that harmony?

Have the sociologists and psychoanalysts noticed any correlation between mass shootings and the progression of technology? Have there been more mass shootings since people no longer have to interact with other people on as regular a basis because of social media? Have there been more mass shootings since 75% of top movie box office hits involve violence in some form? Have there been more mass shootings since 75% of the most popular video games involve death and destruction? And have there been more mass shootings since all these technological "advances" have pretty much replaced the simple nuclear family and personal interaction as the norm in America?

There are 30 deaths per day directly attributable to drunk driving accidents, yet I have never heard an outcry for more laws to control alcohol or cars (both of which are the "tools" in a drunk driving accident). We know that more laws are not needed because the other common denominator in those accidents and resulting deaths is the drunk DRIVER and his lack of personal responsibility and accountability.

Yes, these tragic incidents need to stop. But blaming the guns and pushing for more gun control laws is not the answer and will not solve the problem. And the problem will continue until we find a way to fix the issues related to the people who do the shootings.

I'm sorry... but that is the hard truth.

7 Things That You Can Learn From Indian TV Serials

7 Things That You Can Learn From Indian TV Serials

By Shalini Madhav

Have you been watching Indian TV serials lately? If so, you may find this article interesting. Nowadays, you can choose from tons of serials to watch and have some fun. Have you ever thought that these serials can teach us a lot of things. Let's discuss some of them. Read on to know more.

1. Fashion

No matter the occasion, you will see that the bride of the house in the episode has a heavy outfit and 24-carat gold necklace on. For this occasion, this type of dress may not be a suitable choice, but it happens in every serial.

2. Destiny

In college, your husband has a romantic relationship with a class fellow. She went to the USA forgetting about your husband for one reason or the other, but now, she is back after 20 years to get your husband back. Now, your marriage life is at stake and you have to go through that "agni parekasha" to get your husband back. This is quite interesting, isn't it?

3. Love Life

In almost every TV serial, there is a woman who has a secret love child. And that child remains behind the scene only to come out at a later stage and meet your kid in school. They both become friends soon.

4. The Aging Process

Irrespective of the age of your kids and the age of their kids, you will still look younger for your age. In fact, you never grow up. All that changes about you is a few hairs on your head. Other than that, you look as young as you were when you got married.

5. The concepts of rebirth

Even if your husband dies, you don't need to worry about, as he will be back someday taking a rebirth.

6. Memory loss

If you really have true love in your heart for someone and that person loses his or her memory, you shouldn't give a damn about it. Instead, what you need to do is have faith in true love. While you are doing so, the whole world will conspire. And guess what? These circumstances will make the memory of that person come back. However, by then, you will have another person in your live. And this puts your love to test once again.

7. The Villain

In each serial, you will notice that the villain make faces while plotting against the other people. This will help you know who the villain is. And the great thing about villains is that they always seem to be self-absorbed, and they don't succeed in the end.

So, these are a few interesting things about Indian TV serials. As far as our take on these serials is concerned, we think that the serials don't teach us much. Most of them are produced for the purpose of business only. They are not designed to teach us important lessons that may help us lead a better life. However, there are some movies that teach us a lot of good thing.

If you love watching Indian TV serials, such as Palak Pe Jhalak, you may also love Balika Vadhu main characters that will just steal your heart away.

Are Leaders Really Needed in Organizations?

Are Leaders Really Needed in Organizations?

By Ted Santos

Leadership. Is it really essential to have leaders in an organization? For the past few decades, there have been companies that have eliminated titles. There are no CEOs, presidents or managers. In some cases, there are no individual owners. The employees own the company. In today's business model, some call it a Holacracy.

Holacracy, also known in some circles as Holawhat is a business model that flattens organizations. "Holacracy was invented by Brian Robertson, a 35-year-old former programmer with barely any management experience. He created Holacracy in 2007 because he had a "burning sense that there has to be a better way to work together," he said in an interview with Fast Company."

Zappos is one of the companies that adopted Holacracy. CEO of Zappos, Tony Hseih, gave an ultimatum to all employees. They were to embrace Holacracy or leave. He even offered three months severance to those who left voluntarily.

With Holacracy, they have eliminated managers. They work in circles. Each circle is responsible for specific outcomes. While there is a leader for each circle, they do not have a title. In addition, members of the circle are not limited to making requests for resources through their circle leader. There is usually a leadership committee.

With 4,000 employees, Zappos is the largest enterprise to take on Holacracy. Other companies like Medium and the David Allen Company are also proponents of Holacracy.

In Sweden, there is a 40-person company called Crisp that has invented their own version of a flat organization. Like the Holacracy concept, Crisp has structured the business with self-organizing teams. Part of that structure includes eliminating the CEO. After three years of implementing this structure, they have realized great success and tremendous amounts of media attention.

It seems the point of Holacracy and flattening the organization is designed to increase collaboration and employee engagement. Out of frustration, a select few businesses have supposedly eliminated CEOs, managers and titles. Even a $2.6 billion construction company has joined in. The company is DPR Construction. "DPR was founded in 1990 by Doug Woods, Peter Nosler and Ron Davidowski. Today, Nosler and Davidowski serve on the company's board, while Woods serves as one part of a seven-person management team."

Perhaps the real story is that command and control leadership has died. In the past, businesses grew out of an agrarian society. Aside from merchants, people were not accustomed to self-organizing teams in an industrial capacity. Therefore, managers were necessary to dictate work productivity. Furthermore, because people were often coming straight from working in the fields, they had not developed factory skills. At the very least they had not transferred team-building skills they had developed working on a farm. As a result, layers of managers were needed to control labor and output.

In a knowledge society, people's intellectual capital is part of their productivity. While people still complete work with their hands, it is their intellectual capacity to figure out more efficient ways to produce results that has become valuable.

Nevertheless, even in the Holacracy or so-called flat organizations, people seek informal leaders. They need mentorship and people who make the final decision when there is a deadlock. They need to know their career trajectory when it comes to raises and promotions and they still seek guidance when they are stuck. These structures are often missing or ambiguous in Holocracy or flat enterprises. As a result, "Zappos has suffered from almost a fifth of staff being unable or unwilling to deal with the pressures of self management." It appears Holacracy has had greater success in smaller businesses. The company Medium has about 90 employees. Except, they have not generated revenue yet.

With all this said, perhaps it is not about creating complicated organizational structures. In interviews with Fast Company, "All of the confusing rules and terminology tend to scare people, but that's intentional. Obscurity, Robertson says, is part of a strategy to hook the right converts. "My sales approach is to try to talk people out of it," he says. The Holacracy website doesn't make it easy to understand what a company might be getting into. The "in plain English" version of the Holacracy Constitution is multiple mouse scrolls long."

Perhaps it's time to start looking at businesses as people. Take away people and there are no employees or customers. Therefore, it is wise to set up organizational structures that are built by people for the people. As much as Holacracies and flat organizations attempt to demonize and eliminate leaders, they have proven to still be necessary. In some organizations they still exist, with informal titles. They still serve as the person with the ultimate accountability or expertise. Instead of imposing complexities that no one understands, empower people to use their intellectual capital to create self-sufficient teams. Part of the way to do that is to first engage them in transformational exercises. It is usually best to have someone from the outside to walk them through a journey that shifts the prevailing mindsets. With a new mindset, it becomes easier for people to make changes themselves. More importantly, if they make the changes themselves, they will own it and make it part of the corporate culture.

Tips For The Best Employee Training & Development

Tips For The Best Employee Training & Development

By Tamela Salas

Employee training is essential for an organization's success. Training is a program that helps employees learn specific knowledge or skills to improve performance in their current roles.

Employee training is a process focused on communicating with and teaching an employee information and/or instructions. When things get financially tight in business, often employee training is the first thing to go.

Your employees are your biggest asset since they get the required work done so your organization can meet its business objectives.

For employees to be efficient, productive and adaptable, new skills are required, such as:

1. Critical thinking and problem solving.
2. Communication.
3. Collaboration.
4. Creativity and innovation.

Properly training newly hired employees is essential in any industry.

Failure to provide adequate training can result in job dissatisfaction, low productivity, and staff turnover. In your job, you may have spent time sitting through training sessions of questionable value.

Now your boss has assigned you to develop a training program on the job for the rest of the department. Development is more expansive and focuses on employee growth and future performance, rather than an immediate job role.

However, a trainer can combat this by demonstrating that training is actually a crucial part of employees' and managers' work.

Why Employee Training Is Important

Training is crucial because it:

1. Educates workers about the effective use of technology,
2. Ensures competitive edge in the market,
3. Promotes safety and health among employees,
4. Creates opportunities for career development and personal growth, an important factor in retaining workers
5. Helps employers comply with laws and regulations, and
6. Improves productivity and profitability.

This is a positive experience for everyone involved: The information gained can prove useful to others who may have the potential to partake in a similar situation, while people who have experienced a similar situation have the chance to talk about their solutions that worked effectively.

Develop a Training Program on the Job:

1. Analyze the training need
2. Design the training program
3. Develop the training program.
4. Implement the training program.
5. Evaluate the training program.

First and foremost, remember is that learning can and should be fun. Your staff members want to absorb knowledge, and they'll most likely want to learn concepts when they are presented in a fresh, lively and exciting manner.

Putting a twist on your current employee training methods can help people become excited about learning. As you can see from the breadth and depth of employee training opportunities, the ways in which you can provide your employees the chance to grow and develop are limited only by your imagination.

Employee Training is also makes sense to adjust your course evaluation criteria over time too to match different training goals. And changing business environments, different learner profiles, and market and/or technological changes.

Violins, Tuning Forks and 440 Concert Pitch

Violins, Tuning Forks and 440 Concert Pitch

By Nathan Weiss

Being "off pitch" is more often a metaphor for poor communications. But with violins, oboes, and concertmasters, it hits on the science of music.

In a modern world, we expect everything to be standardized. With a few exceptions - the inability one encounters trying to plug American electrical devices into European outlets being one of them - a globalized economy and culture have more or less made the vast majority of tools and instruments interchangeable according to universal agreements and standards.

Another one of those exceptions might be the tuning of notes in Western culture music. Music is, after all, quite global. And yet going back decades and up to today, finding that perfect Concert A is elusive. Strike up a conversation on this topic in a violin shop populated by six people and you may well get six different viewpoints.

First, there is a scientific way of determining pitch, which conventional wisdom says is 440 hertz for the Concert A. That sounds pretty standard, right? Except the Concert A for non-transposing instruments (violins, violas, cellos, harp, flute, piano, and yes, the marimba, among others) is actually a different note for transposing instruments (double bass, piccolo, B-flat clarinet, contrabassoon, French horn, B-flat trumpet and, of course, the glockenspiel, among others). This is mostly a matter of semantics, but it also hints at the complexity of a single musical note.

That said, with the invention of the tuning fork, and standardizing it to sound waves (the 440 Hz), at least musicians, conductors and full orchestras could at least know what that standard pitch would be - right? Well, not exactly. Science and art rarely meld perfectly. You could say they aren't in concert. The disagreements or inconsistencies of tuning forks go back almost 100 years, possibly more:

• Invented in 1711 by British musician John Shore, the tuning fork produced the first pure tone (technically superior to a stringed instrument because it has much less of an overtone that would override or muddle the perception of the fundamental note). The forked shape, with parallel tines, converges at the base while the handle is connected to a resonance box, which amplifies the sound. But air temperature can affect the frequency, so its use is set at 68 degrees F, or 20 degrees A. Which doesn't necessary hold for outdoor July concerts in the Hollywood Bowl.

• The standard 440 Hz setting of tuning forks doesn't get full agreement with everyone. Reportedly, the Boston Symphony Orchestra is set to 444 Hz, the New York Philharmonic to 443 Hz, and the Berlin Philharmonic 445 Hz. Some solo violinists intentionally tune at a number above the orchestra's 440 Hz, around 442 Hz for example, to create a slightly brighter sound.

• And which instrument tunes to the tuning fork before tuning the entire orchestra: the concertmaster violin or the oboe? In a concert band/wind ensemble, the absence of all strings defaults this responsibility to the oboe, the principal (first chair) clarinet, or sometimes the principal flute or saxophone. But in an orchestra, it is not uncommon for the concertmaster violinist to cue each section to its Concert A. Still, the oboe is more often than not the instrument by which all others find their pitch.

Alas, the familiar metal tuning fork itself is slowly giving way to electronic versions thereof. The most accurate of these, the strobe tuner (using stroboscopes) is nonetheless expensive and temperamental, with moving parts that tend to require service and repairs. Only the luthiers making and repairing the finest instruments have access to these.

Student Instruments: When You Should Rent, and When You Should Buy

Student Instruments: When You Should Rent, and When You Should Buy

By Nathan Weiss

Studying a stringed instrument like a violin, viola or cello can be pricey. The decision to rent or buy largely depends on the student's age and commitment.

Adults who enjoy being musicians by and large were enthusiastic about studying their instrument as children. They may not stay with the instrument they started on - how many bassoonists started with the clarinet, or percussionists with the piano? - but for the most part it was exciting to start the process of learning how to play.

For every confirmed instrumentalist, however, there are a multiple of dropouts. This is a major reason why parents are hesitant to invest in a musical instrument, at least in the beginning stages of study. When it comes to violins that is even more the case because violins come in nine graduated sizes, starting with the 1/8 size for arms 16 inches long; the largest (adult) size, the 4/4, is for arms 23 inches in length. This is a practical necessity of playing, as the size of the instrument has to be easy and comfortable for the musician.

Still, even those student size violins can be costly. As with children's clothing, they will outgrow it in a year or two. Cello, viola and violin rentals are usually available at most local violin shops, which also provide instrument sales for students and beginners.

If the beginning player is a child, it probably makes sense to rent, particularly if the violinist-to-be is not yet committed to the instrument. Rental violins are typically used instruments maintained by the local violin shop. Enlist a professional - either a local violinmaker or the child's teacher - in choosing an instrument that will inspire the student to enjoy study, practice, and performing.

It's important to note, however, that higher quality instruments - those crafted with higher quality wood and fitted with better accessories - sound better and are easier to play than cheaper instruments. For a young violinist, then, once his or her commitment to the violin is confirmed, it makes better sense to invest in a better sounding, higher quality violin.

Though some violin shops may encourage parents to "rent through the sizes," it may not make financial sense to do so. In many cases the cost of purchasing can be at about at par with the cost of renting for about a year. Even smaller-than-full-sized violins hold their value and those parents that purchase smaller violins for their growing and developing player have the option of trading in smaller violins for larger violins, lesser quality violins for more fine instruments.

This is a time, after all, when a love for music and playing can be very strong for the student who has proven they have the discipline, talent, and heart for it. Therefore, it's a time to get serious about committing to an instrument as well. It needn't be a new instrument. In many cases, used instruments properly set up by the shop, can sound excellent and come with an excellent price tag.

Experts will tell you that there is a psychological advantage of purchasing an instrument for a child rather than renting one. A student who owns his or her own violin, viola or cello is more likely to practice and take lessons and commit to study long-term knowing the instrument is their very own.

Let us never forget, an instrument may take the player to college and beyond, or simply be the instrument they will cherish the rest of their lives in playing for special occasions, holidays, and friends. How much the instrumentalist and their family will or should pay for the instrument is a function of the degree of commitment and available resources. There is certainly a point when the price-value of a violin to the student becomes clearer.

The promising violinist may need to spend several thousands of dollars for the violin that matches his or her ability and ambitions. Before buying, do some talking: to teachers, to luthiers, and to other violinists. They may be able to offer good advice - and perhaps a lead on what you can afford or a violin financing plan that fits your budget.

Reasons Why Ceramic Ferrules Are the First Choice of Every Industry

Reasons Why Ceramic Ferrules Are the First Choice of Every Industry

By Aman Tumukur Khanna

Development has made life easy for every sector. With rising technology, more efficient products have risen the bar of efficiency in the industrial sector. Even when we talk about Fiber Optic Connectors, manufacturers have made them more user-friendly. They are no longer an area of concern as they were before.

What is Fiber Optic Connectors?

A Fiber Optic Connector helps to carry out various functions like aligning the fiber in photodetectors with receivers and so on. They have four main parts: Ferrule, Connector Body, Cable, and Coupling Device. In fiber optics, Ferrule is extremely important. Don't let the fact that it's tiny mislead you. It holds great value. Why? Let's find out.

What is a Ferrule?

A Ferrule is an object which is used for fastening, reinforcement, connecting or sealing. It is kind of a ring or a cap that is attached to an object, preventing it from wear, shock or any other damage. It provides protection to the stripped end of the fibers. A ferrule is used along with a connector body.

Types of ferrule:

A ferrule is of various types. The following are the materials used to form different types of ferrules.

- Glass
- Plastic
- Metal
- Ceramic Material

The most efficient choice:

Out of all the materials, Ceramic Ferrules are considered to be the best. They are the first choice of maximum industries. Why? Read on to find out.

Ceramic Ferrule:

The quality that Ceramic Ferrule adds to the fiber optic connectors is commendable. They can be divided into three categories according to dimensions: SC, LC, and Non-standard. According to precision, they can be divided into two categories namely single mode and multimode.

It uses the material zirconia ceramic which is known for its amazing properties like high melting point, good thermal stability and so on. It's natural that they are the preferred choice.

The following are the benefits of using Ceramic Ferrules:

- Has a good thermal shock resistance.
- Commendable mechanical strength.
- Is heat and water resistant.
- Its expansion coefficient is close to that of the glass fiber. This is the reason it bonds well to the glass and is environmentally stable.
- Strong resistance to environmental changes.
- Low insertion loss required for optical transmission.

Boris Yeltsin

Boris Yeltsin

By Martin Hahn

Born on February one, in Bukta, 1931, Russian Federation, Boris (Nikolayevich) Yeltsin was the very first freely elected president of Russian Federation. Growing up in the countryside Sverdlovsk region, he learned at the Urals Polytechnic, and started his career of within the building business.

Boris Yeltsin joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1961, and was appointed first secretary of the Sverdlovsk region in 1976. He was inducted into the Central Committee in 1981. He was appointed by Mikhail Gorbachev as the new secretary of the economic system before being appointed Moscow bash chief in 1985. A blunt talking reformer, he quickly established about remodeling the corrupt "Moscow machine," and was elected a candidate fellow member of the Politburo in 1986.

Boris Yeltsin's political fortunes reversed in 1987 after he'd bluntly criticized Gorbachev at a party conference, stating that his reforms have been moving way too slowly. As an outcome, he was downgraded to a lowly management posting. But Yeltsin wasn't pinned for long; he returned to public interest in 1989 by being elected to the brand new Congress of USSR People's Deputies, and also in June 1991 he was elected president of the Russian Federation.

Following the attempted coup to oust Gorbachev in August 1991, Boris Yeltsin's political upright significantly increased as he led the protesters that defeated the coup, and catalyzing the break up of the Soviet Union in December 1991 he stayed in strength as president of the Russian Federation. Although meeting increasing opposition from much more traditional components within the parliament, he carried on to press for reform. In 1993 he called for a referendum to evaluate the support of his, received a firm vote of self-confidence, and also proposed a brand new constitution for Russian Federation.

Boris Yeltsin was not scared to put democracy on hold or make use of force when necessary. In September 1993, he suspended the Russian parliament after a clash with conservatives. The next month, troops were ordered by him to shell the Moscow parliament building to solve the political crisis. Yeltsin also utilized soldiers to quell rebellion within the breakaway republic of Chechnya in 1994; the lingering negative effects of this particular conflict have reverberated for a long time.

Although not adequate to eliminate him from power, facing cultivating opposition as an outcome of ongoing financial issues and also the war in Chechnya, Boris Yeltsin experienced a drop in his popularity. Though successful in the 1996 elections, Yeltsin was plagued continuing with health problems. Of that season, he underwent a quintuple heart bypass operation in November. Along with the heart of his, breathing issues were had by Yeltsin and reportedly suffered from bout of depression as well as alcohol abuse.

On New Year 's Eve in 1999, Boris Yeltsin surprised all by announcing his resignation. He selected Vladimir Putin to function as the acting president until the following elections, believing he will continue Yeltsin's agenda for change. Yeltsin was expected by no one to leave before the conclusion of his second term. President for almost 9 years, he decided Russian federation required a brand new leader to usher in the brand new millennium.

Boris Yeltsin left behind a complex legacy as Russia 's president. He pushed for democratic reforms, free speech, the right to personal property, and regular elections. But the haste of his to advance financial reforms had terrible effects on the Russian folks. Prices for products significantly increased, leaving several to struggle to make it. Other financial missteps led to employees waiting many weeks being paid out.

Yeltsin also received a mixed evaluation in regards to his dealings with his own government, firing one prime minister after another over the years. Critics also observed he was slow to act against corruption which the privation of companies created great money in the hands of a couple of oligarchs.

After leaving office, Boris Yeltsin remained from the public eye aside from a couple of scattered appearances. He lived silently with his wife Naina; the couple had 2 daughters in addition to many grandchildren.

Boris Yeltsin died at the age of seventy six, on April twenty three, in Moscow, 2007. He'll be remembered as a major contributor in the dismantling of the Soviet Union and also as a crucial shaper of the post Communist Russian federation.

Surely Religious People Worship The Same God

'There's no need to keep on preaching at me like that, we all worship the same God!' People in one religion are at times inclined to believe they ought to get converts from other religions to join theirs. After all, they have always been taught to believe only theirs is right and all the others are wrong. On the other side is the belief that if there is one God, he will accept the sincere worship of people in different religions. Just how do we sort this one out?

• ACCEPTABLE
One popular view aims to answer the problem by common sense. Thus, in a pluralistic world, in which we must not judge each other for our different beliefs, one view is as good and as perfectly acceptable as another. And if there are various ways of expressing worship to God, who are we to say one is right and the others are wrong? On that basis, the conclusion is, yes, sincere people who believe in one God are all offering worship to him.

However, despite that rule about not being judgemental, if you reckon it's a simple matter of common sense, for instance, that the major monotheistic world religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, all worship the same God, then don't forget, you still believe your view is correct, perhaps politically correct. In fact, you may find it difficult to respect any view which disagrees with your own.

• CLAIMS
But because that 'common sense' view relies on a false assumption I believe it ought to be rejected. That is, that somehow God has no particular preference in the way he is worshipped. Consider for a moment what is being assumed; that God accepts orthodox Jewish worship, even though its Scriptures are full of prophetic promise of the coming Davidic ruler, who being born in Bethlehem, would shepherd his people Israel, and even die for their sins and rise again in triumph. Would God accept worship that rejected with ingratitude his best and highest gift of love, in sending Christ, who 'will save his people from their sins'? (Matthew 1:21).

So then, what about Islam that makes big claims to be the final, true religion? This turns out to be one of the most confusing episodes in history, as the new beliefs have the idea they supersede Jesus Christ, who had already come at the climax, at 'the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself (Hebrews 9:26), centuries before Islam thought it could, in effect turn the clock back and recover the faith of Abraham. But Abraham was himself looking forward with joy to the coming of Christ (see John 8:56).

Thus Islam's claim to offer God's final way of worship fails completely, because it rejects the already completed, sacrificial sin-bearing work of Christ on the cross, which Islam does not even believe happened. Unbelief is not worship, but rather ought to be confessed as awful sin.

• CONFIDENCE
Considered on the basis of these various claims, only the God who has spoken and settled this issue once and for all has any right to final credibility and confidence. Thus, only historic biblical Christianity makes clear and plain the way to be reconciled to God and the way to worship God through the one appointed mediator Jesus Christ, who has been accredited for all to accept. The record stands in New Testament Scripture; Jesus authenticated his claims by numerous signs and wonders, many of which were recorded by eyewitnesses.

His crucifixion is one of the best recorded events of history and his bodily resurrection one of the best attested events of history. We have every reason for the utmost confidence that Jesus Christ is Lord, the eternal Son of God and the anointed King, raised to reign over the redeemed people of God.

• THANKSGIVING
Jesus said he is 'the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me' (John 14:6). He taught that God seeks worshippers, 'and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth' (John 4:24). The political correctness school of thinking believes that a plurality of different 'truths' should all be given the same respect, so that a truly progressive society will overcome multi-cultural sectarianism and division. But what a hopeless muddle, when the result is an all-competent State that rejects genuine religious freedom and treats the people who, conscience-bound, courteously beg to differ from the new State religion as if they were trouble-makers!

So, do all, irrespective of background, worship the same God? Here is a clear call to all outside of Christ to be challenged and encouraged to accept that as there is one true and living God, all worship offered to him must be 'in spirit and truth' through Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour who once shed his blood to ransom people for God's own possession.

It is Christ, who with God the Father, continues to give the Holy Spirit to all his ransomed children, enabling them to offer praise and thanksgiving to him who though he is far above all, has loved each one with an everlasting love. Does this make them feel superior to people of another religion? No, superiority has no place. We would never merit or earn such a wonderful salvation, which is why it is totally undeserved. We receive salvation as a free gift, and offer up our lives in adoration and worship, to him who alone is worthy, 'To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb [Christ] be blessing and honour and glory and might forever and ever!' (Rev. 5:13).

ANSWERS - FOR A SEARCHING GENERATION

Hello - I've written several books and many articles - with the goal of showing that biblical Christianity answers the MOST VITAL questions of all - "Who am I?" "What does it mean?" "Has it gone wrong?" "Why JESUS - & why is HE so vital?" and "Who is God and what is he like?"

Please don't give up the search.

Feel to Heal

Feel to Heal

By Rhonda Kitts

The healing journey is the most beautiful of journeys as it gives us an opportunity to fully transform from one unhealthy form, to a new vibrant one. Healing is a state created by oneself and it can become fully transformational to our minds, bodies, and spirits. Healing is a process of ascension to higher vibrational life force energy and the ascension process can be sped up by incorporating regular healing techniques for the mind, body, and spirit into our lifestyle.

One of the interesting concepts about healing is the concept that we must feel to heal. Most of us find a state of what we see as equilibrium through an outside mechanism. We find something that calms the nerves and it works once so we do it again, and again until it becomes an addiction. I don't see addiction in the same way as most, because I have chosen that route in the past. I don't see it with eyes of judgment but I see it with eyes of compassion and really, even congratulations that someone has found something that works to keep them surviving and functioning, even if it is at a lower level than their potential. People who are addicted to something are still here and are still coping and I honor that in my brothers and sisters. Even if we wouldn't call ourselves an addict we have all calmed our nerves with something at one point in time or another. Wine, chocolate, food, cigarettes and even exercise have been great outside tools used as calming agents.

My Reiki and coaching clients come to me because they are tired of living in survival mode and they want to feel great! They are tired of numbing themselves in order to avoid the pain. They want to feel the untainted joy that living a high vibrational life brings them. They want the magic that so many talk about.

Thankfully the mind, body, spirit journey of healing does not have to take years of therapy, but it can be done as a steady journey of feeling the old, releasing it, and making room for the new. Feeling, really feeling what is going on in our mind, body, and spirit is very empowering and can help guide us on our journey if we will make the choice to listen.

I challenge you to start feeling, so you can release what is no longer useful to you on your journey! Enjoy feeling the feels. Enjoy your healing journey!

ABC's Of Leadership - G Is For Grit

ABC's Of Leadership - G Is For Grit

By E. Elizabeth Carter

A skilled leader needs to demonstrate that he or she can stand up to others and tackle tough problems. In our fast-moving world, this is not an easy task to accomplish, but it is necessary for a company to survive. Also, it is important because if staff members do not have confidence in their leader, the organization will lack cohesiveness and the staff members will lose their overall sense of purpose.

Several articles claim that grit can be learned but it seems that the authors feel this happens at a young age. This is not true because we have seen recent incidents like the Boston Marathon where people overcame their handicaps and are still having successful lives. However, we know other cases where people "gave up" and sunk into depression, etc. Why does this happen?

So how does one show gritty characteristics? When faced with a difficult challenge, one must not only be resilient but also develop an open mind to explore several options before finding the best solution. The person also needs to recognize that he or she may make mistakes along the way, but this is part of the overall learning process. There are also other factors to take into consideration which may stem from one's childhood but are more likely have developed in their adult years.

According to a 2013 Forbes article, "5 Characteristics Of Grit -- How Many Do You Have?", the author states the obvious in that people who are gritty are resilient, goal-oriented, and courageous. Another characteristic that is interesting is that these people are also "achievement-oriented versus dependable". The former is the type of person who gets the job done and will work tirelessly to accomplish the job. The latter is someone who is self-controlled and conventional. The last characteristic is that these people strive for excellence versus perfection. I do feel that if someone considers themselves a perfectionist, they don't really accomplish much because they spend too much time trying to make it perfect when that is not even necessary. I also feel many perfectionists are insecure and lack the confidence to take action and realize that just OK is sometimes good enough.

Think about the last challenge you had to face. Did you show grit? If not, review the five characteristics listed above and determine what areas you need to work on.

Other "G" words to ponder - gutsy, giving, global, grow, and guide.

Why Should You Consider Outsourcing Your ATM Program to the Experts?

Why Should You Consider Outsourcing Your ATM Program to the Experts?

By S. J. Porgy

ATM's have become so common today that consumers have started taking them for granted. However, the cost of owning and operating these ATM's is not something negligible. It is not only a complex but also a costly endeavor. ATM's might seem hassle-free entities, but they require frequent attention and this is where financial institutions come in. Financial institutions either employ their own workers or outsource the task of replenishing cash, fixing broken parts, clearing paper jams, upgrading software and hardware, processing transactions and managing all the aspects of the business.

Can a Business handle it All on Its Own?

Meeting the needs of the customers in the altered environment we are living in today is not an easy feat. And, this is true not only for the businesses but also for virtually all the credit unions and banks. A few years back, the idea of ATM's was limited to just providing cash to the customers. This was the only value proposition offered by these machines. But, it has evolved into a much more diverse industry today. A business, whose core compatibility is not dealing with these ATM's, will not be able to handle all the necessary things, from cash management to fixing the broken parts of the machines and so on. Thus, they have a choice to make. They can either try doing it all on their own, which is not an easy thing to do and manage, or outsource the task to specialty companies which are well-versed and experienced in managing all the aspects of ATM placement and management.

Why Outsource Your ATM Program to the Experts?

If you are still not sure why outsourcing your ATM program to specialty companies is the right choice, here are the reasons that might help you make a decision.

1. Improved Customer Service and Hence Improved Customer Retention

When it comes to ATM's, the basic demands most businesses have are service, availability and convenience. With specialty ATM managed service providers, businesses are able to fully engage their customers through adding more cost effective functions and solutions offering enhanced customer experience. Customers today look for convenience and prefer businesses that offer them all the convenience they want at the same place. With ATM outsourcing companies, your customers will be able to have an access to the following:

• Envelope-less deposits

• Transaction personalization

• Mobile integrations

• Email and SMS receipts etc.

All these services are provided by only specialty companies as businesses usually do not have the time and knowledge when it comes to enhancing the customer experience.

2. Improved opportunity to generate new revenue and enhance your business

There are so many creative technological innovations in place these you can use to instill a new life into your ATM's. These innovations offer a host of opportunities for your business that can change the role these ATM's play in customer interactions. These include:

Product Marketing: Businesses can use ATM's to effectively market your business products during the time the transaction made by the customer is in process or they are waiting for the pages to load. According to research, customers have to wait for about 200 trillion seconds when the "Please Wait" message is displayed while they are using ATM's. This time can be strategically used to enhance your business and market your products.

Check Imaging: Customers today prefer ATM's that offer convenience in the form of deposit automation. With a specialized ATM service company, you will be able to offer your customers this convenience which will make you their preferred choice among other businesses. This can result in improved customer retention and expense reduction.

3. Streamlined Operations Leading to Reduced Costs

Having an ATM at your business location is not a cheap thing to manage. There are costly investments to be made in the hardware and the software. The management of operational activities also requires a lot of time, effort, knowledge and money. If you are looking to run an ATM at your business profitably, streamlining operations is necessary as it leads to reduced costs. The money you can save this way can be used elsewhere to enhance and grow your business. If you are looking for ways that help you streamline your business operations while at the same time reduce cost, then outsourced ATM managed services is the best choice. This way, you will be able to not only give time to your staff to concentrate on more important things associated with running the business but can also transform the labor and capital cost into fixed fee. All this comes with the peace of mind that the ATM will keep running as you want all the time and you will be faced with no glitches whatsoever.

The Final Word

If you are looking for ways to maintain compliance and manage the costs associated with putting up an ATM at your business location, getting the services of an ATM service company is the best choice. You will be able to deploy the most innovative latest technologies through experts who have been working in the field for years. In addition, your ATM will be up and running all the time, with no problems you have to worry about as everything will be taken care of by the ATM service company.

When choosing an ATM placement service to install an ATM at your business location, you need to make sure the company has a good reputation and has some great reviews from their past customers.

If you are looking for an experienced and reputable ATM placement service provider,   Worldwide Products Corp. is a great choice. The company offers the best ATM placement services and is a complete ATM business solution company offering free installation along with cash management, processing, revenue sharing and maintenance services.

Twin Flames: Do They Exist?

Twin Flames: Do They Exist?

By Gary Wonning

There has been much discussion about Twin Flames, who they are, and even if they exist.

Even today, there are many who believe there is no such thing as a twin flame, or twin soul.

As we become more spiritually in tune, more and more information is revealed to us from our higher source and as a result our learning continues.

Among most people, there has been little doubt that on some level they do exist, eventually, you can't ignore the feelings of your soul.

We can only learn higher knowledge as we advance up the ladder of learning, slowly, taking each step as it comes, advancing along life's path.

We eventually learn, and it becomes part of our belief system that are all souls have a body, we are not bodies that have a soul. The real us never dies, we are immortal. It is only the physical body that dies and remains on earth, leaving behind memories of who we were in that particular incarnation.

After exiting the physical body, the soul and spirit live on as energy.

As we know, energy cannot be destroyed, once it is created, it can only change shape and or form.

The soul is capable of dividing into different entities if it so chooses and once it has advanced spiritually.

To the question as to whether there are twin flames, I like the following analogy.

The best way to maybe explain a soul is to compare it to a clump of grapes, with a soul being the clump of grapes.

Then you compare each lifetime to an individual grape. When a soul, or a portion of the soul reincarnates, it breaks free from the clump, travels to earth or elsewhere, does it's thing, learns the lessons it was sent to learn and then returns to the clump, and relates to the others what it has experienced, much like we do on the physical level when we return from a vacation.

Being a part of the clump, the individual spirit or energy remembers being united with the group soul, and begins looking for other aspects of it's being so it can once again reunite with itself, so to speak.

Thus, the concept of twin souls is created. This searching creates much conflict on planet earth and can lead to discord in relationships.

We often look at the concept as there only being one twin flame, in reality, there can be as many as the soul determines it wants to have inhabiting physical life at one particular time.

All the lives of a spirit can be accessed by the incarnated soul, which explains why sometimes multiple people access the same lives when under regression.

When different spirits of the same soul incarnate, they each benefit from what the other aspect encounters and learns. That is the reason one soul may have several "parts" in physical life at one time.

Since all time is happening simultaneously, all souls are omnipresent, they can be anywhere and everywhere at once. That is why we can speak to our departed friends and family, even though they are off in another lifetime somewhere, part of them still exist in the spirit world and are thereby accessible to us.

Incarnating into multiple, concurrent lives, a soul could evolve much faster by gathering more experience and positive energy.

A soul incarnated into multiple persons could fulfill very complex plans to help humanity's spiritual evolution. On a personal level, we often pick our life partners on the basis of what our life plan is, when we pick the wrong partner for the wrong reasons, it messes up our whole life plan and things can never be right until we find the right partner.

In the case of twin flames, the idea that hurting others means hurting yourself is literally true.

I have traversed the globe in search of truth, my truth, during which time I have had an opportunity to study with Aborigine elders, native American Indians, and some of the world's finest intuitives. All of this has lead me to better understand our world and all things therein contained.

I have created a blog : http://www.thefloridahoosier.com.
And a website to share some of my adventures and knowledge as I see it. http://www.journeysthrulife.com

I have written several books and am available for book signings and speaking engagements.
